We need you!
We are a natural horsemanship facility ~ which basically means we base everything we do on the nature of the horse. We don't use cross-ties, tie downs, twitches, force, fear and intimidation. We do teach our volunteers to handle the horses in a humane and natural (for the horse) way. As a volunteer you are invited and encouraged to learn the 'natural' way with the horses.
Here's how it works.
Submit an application. If you are under 13 you must have a parent or LEGAL guardian with you at all times. We'll set up a training schedule and then put you on a regular volunteer schedule that is convenient to you.
Volunteering is one of the most selfless things that a person can do! It can also be one of the most rewarding, especially when you are directly involved with saving an animal that has fallen on hard times through no fault of its own. It's our chance to give even if we don't have a lot of disposable income. Your time is priceless!
Being a volunteer at SHHS can be a very fun, rewarding, heartwarming experience. Being a lifetime sanctuary we have the luxury of getting to know the horses and bond with them in a very special way.
